Watch “Taking Vitamin D Supplements? Important Information! Watch This First” on YouTube

Hello my lovelies, it’s a Soulful Saturday afternoon as I write this deciding whether I should publish this today or tomorrow.. Anyways hello again darlings depending on where you live in the world and how close you are to the equator. You may or may not need Vitamin D supplements.

The personal irony for me is that for the years before I went vegan. I was severely low in vitamin D. At the time I was eating animals. I mainly ate chicken fish (had to not resemble a fish in order for me to eat it-I was seriously in denial and uneducated) and lamb. I was a very active runner practiced yoga weekly and 6 days per week gym member. I thought I had a healthy balanced diet.

I was pescatarian then vegetarian before transitioning to plant based and vegan. Yet when I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism I was vegan and at the same time they’d checked my vit D B12 Iron and Folate levels. All were in normal ranges which was great to hear.

You would think that the reduction of all animal produce would have left me with deficiencies right?!

You could also be forgiven for thinking that the reason I was deficient in vitamin D is because I went vegan and the deficiency occurred from the time I stopped consuming animal with dairy products.

If that was the case then you could say that other deficiencies such as B12 which is usually found in animal products would be likely in the near future due to purely not consuming animal produce?

However I had a blood test after becoming vegan and the vitamin D had returned to normal levels. I was also fine with good levels of B12. I wasn’t taking B12 supplements at the time as I didn’t know about B12 and it can be an issue.

B12 is one of the most common vitamin deficiencies affecting everyone not just people living a vegan lifestyle. Vitamin B12 is abit complex to explain. The simple science is that B12 is a form of bacteria commonly found in the soil on vegetables and other plant based foods grown in soil.

The reason behind B12 being found in animals? Depending on how the animal is farmed some animals will eat the plants grown in soil containing B12. Others are injected with B12 supplements as part of an animal health protocol which will also receive antibiotics due to conditions of those animals. They may be factory farmed and therefore may not have access to outside or a patch of grass. Or an area suitable for a humane kinder environment instead for factory farming.

I personally prefer to take the animal out of the equation and consume plant milks and other produce fortified or grown organically with soil containing B12.

We also grow our own fruit all types of 1avegetables including root vegetables, leafy greens such as spinach lettuces and Kale aswell as other salad vegetables with peas and various herbs.

Lastly, this year we’ve bought (and luckily been given!) some new foods to add to our regular foods that we grow coming soon… ❤️

Children & Their Filters (Or Lack There Of!)

Hello lovelies I had a rough night broken night’s sleep againnn. I don’t think I helped my situation as I forgot again to apply my HRT gel. I have also forgotten I have reached my goal of no Pregabalin so of course my sleep was affected. Yippee! From the first time I’d tapered my dosage, each time it affected my sleep the first day.

I make a habit of taking my phone everywhere with me incase I have a fall and need to call for Kev’s help. Anyhoo digressing again.. I was in the bathroom and knocked the phone while in my pocket. I quickly took it out to turn it off and saw it was on Facebook Videos.

Like anyone I enjoy a good belly laugh and seeing Ginger Billy (self titled-not by me!) I thought I’d start it from the beginning.

Well anyone who likes to hear of stories where children unintentionally embarrass their parents loved ones or any adult caregiver. You’ve come to the right place..

Ginger Billy is on Facebook he’s American, and from the deep south and posts videos about his family and the antics they get upto.. Very funny at times and seems to have a big following myself included..

Listen and enjoy… You can almost feel the embarrassment coming through the screen.. I’ve also been in this kind of situation with my youngest who liked to ask questions too… Suffice to say I was belly laughing with tears running down my face.. ❤️
