Food Glorious Food..

Morning my lovelies I thought I’d add some food porn. I finally found a flour that doesn’t cause any spikes or immune responses so I thought I’d share this delicious Apple Tart photo with you and another favourite of mine the smoothie bowl.

I have only made desserts such as pies and crumbles so far. A crumble for people whose unaware of this typical UK dish. It is fruit of any variety such as Apple and Blackberry or Rhubarb in a dish topped with a crumble mix made from flour unrefined sugar and plant butter or spread.

I made this pastry with gluten free wholegrain flour made from Buckwheat. Despite the name, Buckwheat is derived from the Rhubarb family. It is described as having a sweet nutty taste. The flour is smooth and is a pale brown in colour.

I’ve yet to try a savoury dish with this flour but reading the label I may endeavour to find an alternative flour for savoury dishes.

I love photography of all subjects bringing my subjects to life or at least close ups showing the details the texture of the shortcrust pastry, the chunks of apple 🍏 I used less unrefined sugar than the recipe dictates to reduce the amount of sugar and saturated fat I ingest. The apples were cooked in a lidded pan with enough water to cover the fruit. No sugar was added.

The great thing with smoothie bowls is you can add any fruits you want (in this one I had a variety of different berries including Strawberries Raspberries Blueberries and Cherries with a generous serving of ground nuts and seeds. I ensure I stick with fruits listed on the low glycemic index (GI) index category ❤️

    • Hello Mirna! Thanks so much for your kind comments! It did taste good I must say! With somewhat of a relief as I usually bake with ordinary white self raising and plain flours. However since finding out white flour is a trigger I have been looking for a gluten free brown option for savoury and sweet dishes. I quite agree with you Mirna about Apple tart being a great comfort food!
